THE IMPACT OF STRESS ON OUR HEALTH

An increasing number of people in my life are being diagnosed with cancer.
In nearly every case stressful event/s have preceded the diagnosis.

As you may have noticed, one of our LiVE ALiVE mantras is
"because great health is so much more than what you eat and how you move"

In nearly 3 decades I have trained in a variety of modern and traditional medicine modalities and while in a very few cases stress was discussed, it was not given nearly the emphasis I now believe it requires.
Admittedly in our modern lives there is a lot of stress that we can't have any control over but on the other hand there is so much we CAN control.
The concept of epigenetics is still very new to many people and not even accepted by others. It is no secret that I am a HUGE believer in it.

The attached image comes from this article explaining how chronic stress impacts our cells.
This is something we are increasingly understanding and fortunately more doctors are also recognising it. Unfortunately they are being vilified for this view - the cynic may say that there isn’t money to be made from this very empowering view…

Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer, M.D is a case in point. You can read about him here In short, Dr Hamer was an internist at an oncology (cancer) clinic. After he was diagnosed with cancer following the death of his son he investigated the history of his cancer patients and discovered that they too had experienced stressful events before their diagnosis.
Now you might think, 'well how do you prevent something like the death of his son?'... a fair question.
Short answer is that we can't, however, Dr Hamer believes that we CAN heal the damage that the stress causes. He is a strong believer, as am I, in the ability of the body to heal itself given the right tools. In addition many of us are subject to chronic, ongoing stress which is just as much a contributor.

It is a very sad indictment on our world today that:
"In 1981, Dr. Hamer presented his findings to the Medical Faculty of the University of Tübingen as a post-doctoral thesis. But to this day, the University has refused to test Dr. Hamer’s research in spite of its legal obligation to do so. This is an unprecedented case in the history of universities. Similarly, official medicine refuses to approve his discoveries despite some 30 scientific verifications both by independent physicians and by professional associations.

Shortly after Dr. Hamer submitted his thesis, he was given the ultimatum to renounce his discoveries or have his contract renewal at the University clinic denied. In 1986, even though his scientific work had never been impeached, much less disproved, Dr. Hamer was stripped of his medical license on the grounds that he refused to conform to the principles of standard medicine. Yet he was determined to continue his work. By 1987 he was able to extend his discoveries to practically every disease known to medicine.

Dr. Hamer has been persecuted and harassed for over 25 years, in particular by the German and French authorities… "
